Melanotan II

$35.00

Melanotan II is a synthetic analog of the naturally occurring alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). It was developed to study the pathways involved in melanin production, the process that determines pigmentation in the skin, hair, and eyes. Melanotan II binds to melanocortin receptors, including MC1R, which plays a central role in melanogenesis.

During early research, Melanotan II was also noted to activate additional melanocortin receptors, particularly those involved in appetite regulation, energy homeostasis, and sexual arousal. These receptor interactions led investigators to explore the peptide’s influence on libido and sexual-function pathways. The historical observation of spontaneous arousal responses during testing prompted further study into its mechanistic role within the melanocortin system.

Scientific investigations have examined Melanotan II in the context of pigmentation biology, photoprotection, sexual-behavior signaling, and neuroendocrine regulation. Research continues to evaluate how its receptor-binding profile may influence tanning responses, UV-related stress tolerance, appetite pathways, and melanocortin-mediated physiological effects.

Melanotan II remains a widely studied peptide within dermatologic, endocrine, and neurobehavioral research due to its diverse receptor activity and its broad relevance across pigmentation and central-signaling pathways.
